A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system. The urinary system includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Most infections involve the lower urinary tract — the bladder and the urethra. Women are at greater risk of developing a UTI than are men. If an infection is limited to the bladder, it can be painful and annoying. But serious health problems can result if a UTI spreads to the kidneys. In this video we will know why it occurs and how cant it be prevented Subscribe to our channel, www.youtube.com/@androurocare
A UTI, or urinary tract infection, is an infection in any part of your urinary system — your kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Most UTIs are caused by bacteria. The most common type of UTI is a bladder infection which is often not serious if treated promptly, but it can spread to your kidneys and become more severe if left untreated. UTIs occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder. This can happen due to a variety of factors including:
Sexual activity: Sexual activity, especially if it involves a change in partners or frequent intercourse, can increase the risk of UTIs in women.
Female anatomy: Short urethra length.
Urinary catheters.
Blockages in the urinary tract.
Prevention of UTIs often involves lifestyle changes and good hygiene practices:
1. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps to flush bacteria out of your urinary tract.
2.Practice good hygiene: Wipe from front to back after using the toilet, and urinate after sexual intercourse to help flush bacteria from the urethra.
3.Urinate frequently: Holding urine for long periods of time can allow bacteria to multiply in the bladder, so try to urinate regularly. Avoid irritating products:
4.Certain products, such as perfumed soaps, powders, and sprays, can irritate the urethra and increase the risk of UTIs. Stick to gentle, unscented products.
5.Cranberry products: Some studies suggest that cranberry juice or supplements may help prevent UTIs by preventing bacteria from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract, although more research is needed to confirm this.
6. Antibiotics: In some cases, particularly for individuals who are prone to recurrent UTIs, a doctor may prescribe a low-dose antibiotic to be taken daily for an extended period of time to prevent future infections.
If you suspect you have a UTI, it's important to see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment, which usually involves a course of antibiotics. Untreated UTIs can lead to more serious complications, so it's best to address them promptly.
